Fresh apples go so well with molasses dumplings

I tried this dessert  yesterday and while it didn’t help my sugar too much, it sure was wonderful and I’ll be making it at the fort. Very much like Doughnuts and glazed with fresh made molasses , this will be a crowd pleaser

Ingredients

2 cps plain flour

pot full of hot canola oil

1 tsp. salt

2 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp soda

3/4 cp whole milk

Mix all ingredients except oil which is heating in the fryer. In another pot, bring fresh made molasses to a soft boil.

Roll the dumplings to 1 inch thickness and cut with a small cutter. Drop 2 or 3 into the hot oil . When a  goldy brown, remove from the oil and drop into the boiling molasses. Remove and drain.
